Access
🚌 By Bus
From Bangalore
- Take any bus to Kerala via Mysore.
- Stop at Kalpetta (approx. 6 hours), just after Sultan Bathery.
- From Kalpetta, take a short bus ride to Chundale (5 minutes).
- From Chundale, take a bus in the direction of Meppadi.
From Chundale to the Monastery
🚖 By auto-rickshaw: Ask to stop at Kunnambetta village, then take a rickshaw to Ananda Matha Ashram.
🚶♀️ On foot: Stop near the Redemptorist Fathers’ House in Kunnambetta. Walk a short distance and take the first right—the monastery is about a 10-minute walk.
From Calicut
Take a bus to Kalpetta (or towards Sultan Bathery, Mysore, or Bangalore). Stop at Chundale (5 minutes before Kalpetta) and follow the same directions as above.
From Ooty or Gudalur
Take a bus to Kalpetta or Calicut. After Meppadi, stop at Kunnambetta and follow the directions to the ashram.
🚗 By Car
The monastery lies on the road between Gudalur and Chundale, halfway between Chundale and Meppadi.
From Meppadi, drive about 5 km to reach the Redemptorist Fathers’ House. From there, take the road towards Chembra Peak. After 300 meters, turn right: Ananda Matha Ashram is signposted.
From Calicut
- Follow the highway to Kalpetta via Thamarassery (NH 212).
- At Chundale, turn right and drive 5 km to Kunnambetta (near the Redemptorist Fathers).
- Follow the same route toward Chembra Peak, then turn right toward the ashram.
